A century ago, Tesla already had many of the ideas that make up the world around us today.
An interview with the inventor Nikola Tesla that was published in 1926 by Collier’s magazine had stunning information at the time. In it, the eminent scientist made some (for his time) outlandish predictions about the future and, specifically, the 21st century
He made a lot of prophecies throughout the years, many of which came to pass. Examples: In the future, an entirely new system will emerge with women playing a dominating role. Simple portable gadgets will enable humankind to start communicating with one another. There will be unmanned control of the aircraft, among other things.
1. Wireless connection
The Serbian scientist might have created the Internet if the businessman John Morgan had been more generous in funding Tesla’s research; at the very least, he claimed that the Wardencliff Tower could wirelessly broadcast speech, text, and images to every location in the world.
He said that while images have previously been sent by telegraph lines over small distances, future wireless transmission will enable transmission over virtually any distance.
2. Remote-control technology and drones
Those who witnessed Tesla’s demonstration experiment in 1898 saw what seemed like a boat without oars that glided on the water on its own.
The shore engineer controlled the wheel of the boat, started the propeller, and ignited the side lights, which looked amazing at the time, using the remote control, batteries, and switches he had created.
The first actual robot prototype was actually shown by Tesla 22 years before the Czech writer Karel apek coined the term itself. Today, this technology has established itself and is always evolving.
3. Workforce Automation
Technology had improved by the 1930s to the point that an automated workforce performed daily human tasks. Nikola Tesla predicted that machines and robots will mostly replace human work in 1935.
Although it hasn’t happened yet, it is undeniably the case that robots are already displacing workers in numerous industries. Experts frequently highlight this as one of the most significant issues to face in the future, when many jobs will be lost to technology.
4. Affordable Renewable Power
According to Nikola Tesla, the universe is filled with a limitless supply of energy that may be exploited for free, anywhere and whenever, with the right degree of technological equipment.
He also thought that we could use water to produce inexpensive renewable energy that would displace the current high-cost sources. Even worse, his funders did not support his desire to provide people with free energy.
5. Cellphones and smartphones
Tesla foresaw the development of portable wireless gadgets that will mix several technologies and wireless connectivity. He clearly did not use the terms “mobile phone” or “smartphone,” but his description from 1926 sounds a lot like them.
He detailed a gadget that would be tiny enough to fit in a pocket and would enable us to see and hear one other as if we were chatting face to face.
6. Autonomous vehicles
Nikola Tesla suggested in 1898 that an automotive carriage be built that is capable of carrying out a number of tasks on its own. A business with the same name (Tesla) has now demonstrated that this is the technology of the future, however it took another 100 years for it to become a reality.
7. Rise of environmental protection
One of Tesla’s most significant forecasts is that environmental protection will become more of a worldwide endeavor. The American Environmental Protection Agency was established 35 years later, in 1970, as opposed to his prediction that it would happen by 2035.
8. Empowering Women
According to Tesla, women will dominate society in the future. He predicted that women would start holding positions of leadership in society and would obtain an education on par with males.
9. The value of science to society will increase.
Politics and conflict dominated society during his time. One of Nikola Tesla’s forecasts was that society will be considerably more interested in the most recent scientific advancements than in fighting wars, and that media would focus more on science than politics in the future. People are unquestionably more interested in science, even while politics still dominates the front pages of newspapers, news outlets, and social media.
10. Wireless News
According to Tesla, printed newspapers will be phased out in favor of wireless news delivery. He believed that everyone would have daily access to everything at home.
